January 2021 has sparked an organizing kick for me. I’ve been going through closets, cabinets, bins, pantries, shelves…honestly EVERYTHING. Since I’m spending more time at home these days, why not? I love love LOVE purging and decluttering. I am all about starting off the new year fresh!
Last year I shared 4 organizing tips that have really helped me out. You can read about them in this post.
When it comes to closets, I am all about cleaning them out each season. I usually make 3 piles: toss, donate, and sell. The first pile includes everything that needs to be THROWN OUT. If it’s stained, ripped, chipped, unwearable, or broken, then it needs to go.
The next pile is everything that can be DONATED. this includes all the gently used items that are still in good shape, but not sellable. I usually like to donate to one of the nearby churches in my neighborhood. Things are a bit different these days due to COVID so call ahead to see what places are taking.
The last pile includes everything I can SELL. There are so many ways to do this these days. You can either do it yourself on Poshmark or Ebay OR contact Galore Chicago Consignment. Ali is the BEST! I’ve been giving her stuff to sell for years.
I also LOVE finding items that can help me organize. Amazon is usually my goto when it comes to finding exactly what I need, but I also love The Container Store, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Target.
CLOSETS
For closets, I’ve invested in these slim hangers and let me tell you, LIFE CHANGING! You can fit so much more in your closet with them. Struggling to organize your shoes? I’m also a huge fan of this hanging shoe storage {also this larger one for shirts + sweaters OR winter gear} or a sturdy shoe rack (we use this one in our front hall closet). Also these shelf dividers are great for bags, sweaters, or shirts.
BATHROOMS
When it comes to the bathroom I love these organizers for under the sink and these for organizing my drawers and makeup. I also use these bathroom storage canisters on the counter for q-tips, cotton balls, and eye makeup remover pads.
KITCHENS
For our kitchen, I got this to create a spice rack in one of my drawers (which I love) as well as these for organizing the utensils in my drawers and these for organizing my pantry. I also just got these for organizing the refrigerator and let me tell you…LIFE CHANGING!
PLAYROOMS & TOYS
My next project is tackling my daughter’s art closet as well as another purge of her toys. I already got these baskets and these storage cubes for her play area as well as these bins that really blend well with our living room aesthetic. I also got these colorful bins for my daughter’s closets and this stackable organizer for my daughter’s LOL Surprise Doll collection. It can also work for Legos and/or other small toys or crafts.

This is the perfect organizer if you want to turn one of your kitchen drawers into a spice rack. It’s sleek, modern, and adjustable so it can fit any size. We got this as soon as we re-did our kitchen. I love that the spices are tucked away neatly in a drawer. It comes with 3 slanted tiers in clear, but also other colors too and it’s currently on sale for $15!

These refrigerator organizing bins are life changing. I’ve only had them a week and have already seen massive improvements in the functionality of my fridge. It comes in a pack of 6 for only $30, which is amazing in itself. The bin sizes are so versatile so you can really use them to fit your own personal needs. This is a must for every fridge.

This lucite lazy susan has so many versatile uses. You can either store it in your refrigerator, kitchen cabinet, or bathroom. It works perfectly for storing, condiments, spices, medicine, beauty products, or first aide necessities. It has four different compartments for categorizing and such a great use of space.
TOY ORGANIZERS:
WOVEN BASKET
I love these woven baskets and we currently have 2 of them in our living room to store my daughter’s toys. They are so beautiful and are currently on sale for $23. I like how they seamlessly fit into our living room decor. Such a fun find!
STORAGE CUBES
I got these storage cubes to organize my daughter’s toys. They are a charcoal gray color and fit perfectly in her lay area. We went with the 12 X 12 X 12 size and they hold a ton. They come in a pack of 4 in a lot of different colors. These would not only be great for toys, but also if you need to organize a closet or office area too.
COLORFUL BINS
I especially love these bins for my daughter’s art closet. We are able to organize all her paint, play dough, coloring books, and other supplies. They come in fun kid friendly colors and you can label them for easy access. They are also stackable and made of sturdy material.
STACKABLE STORAGE CASE
We got this stackable storage case to organizer my daughter’s LOL Surprise Doll collection. It’s amazing and each doll fits perfectly in each compartment. It also makes it easy to organize all of the accessories. This case would also work well with legos, other small toys, art supplies, or even a toolbox or beads. It’s lightweight, sturdy, and stackable. Each compartment unlatches for easy access. Such a great find!
CLOSET
SLIM VELVET HANGERS
I swear by these hangers. They come in a pack of 30 or 50 and I highly recommend switching out all your hangers for these for a consistent look. The no-slip velvet material is perfect for clothes and never leaves creases. You can also hold a lot more in your closet because of the slim design. The best!
