ELLE’S UNICORN THEMED 2ND BIRTHDAY PARTY

I can’t believe it, but Elle it TWO! We celebrated her birthday two weekends ago with all of her friends and it was so much fun! The weather was horrible {thanks a lot Chicago…}, but the party was inside so we didn’t let it rain on our parade.

Last year we went with a Minnie Mouse theme that you can see more of in THIS POST. Since Elle was a unicorn for Halloween, we decided to go with it and make it the theme for this year’s party. I mean who doesn’t love magical unicorns?!

Here are a few details:

THE INVITATIONS

For the invites we went with Paperless Post. They’re my absolute favorite! It’s super easy to navigate their website and they have the cutest designs. There were so many birthday invitations to choose from, but the exact style we went with was this unicorn themed one of course. They let you customize it all the way down to the font and color choices. Paperless Post also helps you track the number of guests coming and even assist with reminders. They’re the best!

THE DECOR

Most of the decorations were done by Limani Designs. I met with them before to go over my vision and talk color scheme. Let’s just say they exceeded my expectations. Everything turned out perfectly. We went with blues, pinks, and purples.

I especially loved the blue shimmery tablecloths, unicorn headbands, unicorn balloons {which you can get here}, and happy birthday sign. They really paid attention to detail and came up with amazing ideas.

The balloon arch {which ended up being Elle’s favorite} was done by my talented and sweet friend Monica. Didn’t she do a fantastic job?! I especially love the confetti balloons which you can get here.

THE VENUE

We used my parent’s party room. Party rooms are always a great option if you live in the city and don’t have enough space in your own home. If you don’t have access to one, there are also lots of kids spaces scattered throughout Chicago that could work.

THE FOOD

We went with a brunch buffet and used Mariano’s to cater it. They did an amazing job! We had a variety of bagels, flavored cream cheese, a lox platter, pastries, croissants, blueberry scones, danishes, a fruit platter, and of course birthday cake. They have the BEST birthday cake. We went with a chocolate cake and white buttercream frosting. It was a fan favorite. Mariano’s will create any design you want and are really flexible and easy to work with.

THE ENTERTAINMENT

Elle LOVES music and dancing so I knew we needed some sort of entertainment for all of our two year old guests. We went with Sarah Jayne Lane and she did an amazing job! She is super friendly, easy going, and will sing any song you want. Elle loves her music class. She also brings lots of instruments, toys and shakers for all the kids to play with.

THE GIVEAWAY

Elle is all about bubbles these days so we went with colorful bubble wands. They come in packs of 6 and you can buy them here. I then created customized labels via Zazzle {my specific design can be found here} and tied them to each wand with raffia.

ELLE’S OUTFIT

Isn’t Elle’s outfit cute? She obviously had to wear a party dress and since it’s winter we went with this sweater dress. We added some sparkle with these gold shoes and last, but not least a pink bow of course.

Elle had the such an amazing time dancing with all her friends and eating bagels and cake. She kept saying “I’m so excited!”. It was simply the cutest. Hopefully you were able to see a sneak peek on Instagram Stories, but if not then make sure to check out some photos below:
