5 TIPS ON STAYING ORGANIZED

One thing I pride myself in is staying organized. Ever since I was little, I was really into making to-do lists and I still continue to this day. I find that when you feel organized, you are less stressed out and definitely more happy.

Today I’m going to share 5 tips on ways that have helped me stay organized and hopefully this will help you too.

1. PUT EVERYTHING AWAY
I always get super stressed out when I’m surrounded by a mess. I’m a person who loves everything in its place so whenever I can find the time {usually when Elle is napping or asleep for the night}, I work on putting everything back in its own place. Drawers, bins, and baskets are your friends for this one. If you make a conscious effort to do this too, you will be surprised as to how much a huge difference it can make and how better you will feel.

2. MAKE YOUR BED
Ever since I was little, I’ve been told to make my bed, and I still do it to this day! As soon as I get up, my first instinct is to make the bed. It’s a great routine to get into the habit of because an unmade bed is a sign of a disorganized life. It makes your room look refreshed and it helps you get into the mood of taking on the day.

3. GET RID OF WHAT YOU DON’T NEED
I absolutely LOVE to purge. I find it to be one of the best feelings in the world. Whenever the piles start to get big, I find time to go through them. Decluttering is very therapeutic and the easiest way to stay organized. I also try to clean out my closet every season because I’m a clothing and handbag hoarder {everyone has their problems..}. These days it’s super easy to sell online {via Poshmark or Ebay} or donate to a local church. If you get rid of what you don’t need, you will feel more organized and in control of the things you do need in your life.

4. CREATE A TO-DO LIST
I’ve always been a huge fan of lists. The feeling of crossing out something you’ve accomplished is so rewarding. Also, I’m very forgetful so if I don’t write it down, chances are that I will forget to do it. To help with this, I use the reminder app in my iPhone. I have different lists going on simultaneously and they are all color coded {do you think I’m a dork?! ha. }. I create lists for the grocery store, blog to-dos and outfit ideas, questions for the baby doctor, packing lists, etc. etc. It’s great because you always have your phone with you and I also have it linked up to my computer.

5. GET A PLANNER
Besides using my phone to help me stay organized, I also always rely on a planner. Ever since I was little, I LOVED picking out a yearly planner for school. It was my favorite thing on my school supply list. I was super excited with Erin Condren sent over this fun flamingo printed one with my name on it. I absolutely LOVE all the colors and tabs {those too can help you stay organized}.

I leave my Erin Condren LifePlanner™ on my desk and use it to plot out my blog editorial calendar, dates to remember, birthdays, events and parties to attend, and important appointments. I also love using the sticky notes for extra add-ons and the colorful markers {because as you know I’m all about color coding here…}.

If you saw last week via Insta Stories, I had the chance to attend a super fun party at Dylan’s Candy Bar thrown by Erin Condren. I got to see first hand all the different designs and prints. Not only do they make planners, but also stationary, school + office supplies, accessories, stuff the home, and even apparel {I mean…how cute are these pajamas!}.

You can see some of the fun stuff I got below and shop some more styles here. ALSO… they are offering my readers 15% OFF EVERYTHING with coupon code GETSOCIAL15 at checkout.

*A huge thank you to Erin Condren for partnering on this post. As always all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting brands that keep GCG up and running!

I agree with all these suggestions you’ve made, girl. Do I personally do all of them? No, haha, but I’ve been working on it. I make my bed every morning because I hate the way my room looks if I don’t. I try to keep a clean house as best as I can because I hate the feeling of unexpected visitors coming in and seeing a messy home. It’s happened to me more than once and it’s so embarrassing! The part I really want to work on the most is writing everything down. I used to be so good at this when I was in school, but since then, it’s been a struggle. Thanks for sharing and I hope you’re having a great day!

We are totally the same with all of this! I can’t focus when things aren’t organized. I admit that I just recently got into the habit of making the bed every morning, and it makes such a difference. Your planner is so cute!

Great tips! I just bought a new mid-year planner and there’s almost no better thing than a new planner. I agree that decluttering goes a long way! I read Marie Kondo’s book The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up back in January and we got rid of so many things! It’s been easier to stay organized after getting rid of all the things we didn’t love, need, or use.

I love your planner its so adorable, I used most of these ideas in college or I would be super unorganized and a mess. Making your bed is the best way to keep your life so organized, and the first thing you can do in the morning to start your day off strong
