Father’s Day is just around the corner and I teamed up with Story Legacy  to share the perfect Father’s Day gift idea! This is especially a good one if you are still stumped on what to get your grandfather, father, brother, or husband. It is honestly such a fun and creative experience!

WHAT IS IT?

Story Legacy is a storytelling company that celebrates the uniqueness of every family. Through their one-of-a-kind video recording sessions, they help you capture the stories, smiles, and laughter that make your family…your family!

Story Legacy helps with the process of capturing your families stories hassle free by doing all the heavy lifting for you. You work one-on-one with a trained Family Facilitator to coordinate family schedules to find a time that works for everyone.

The facilitator is in charge of working with your family through the entire process and helps with:

• coordinating schedules with your family.
• works with your family to select the stories.
• facilitates the recording session including helping with setting up the camera and lighting.
• manages all the logistics of recording your stories.

THE PROCESS

You first start with a 20-minute video consultation with a Family Facilitator where they explain the process with you and answer any questions you may have.

They email you a list of story starter ideas that will help you and your family choose what 8 stories you want to expand for the project. There are different themes and a HUGE list to choose from so don’t worry if you can’t think of any stories right away. This list really helps your brainstorm.

Once the family selects the stories they want to record, they find a time that works for the entire family to get together so they can share their stories.

On the day of the family’s recording session, the facilitator helps you set up your camera (a cell phone or ipad/ tablet camera is recommended), as well as the lighting. They facilitate the whole process of telling your stories and make sure it is being recorded. The facilitator is there to make your experience easy, fun, and efficient.

The entire experience takes about 2 hours and sessions are always more conversational and fun when multiple family members from various generations participate in the story telling.

Once the family is done telling their stories, their videos will arrive within an hour of after they are finished recording.
