OUR FAVORITE EDUCATIONAL TOYS AND BOOKS FOR PRESCHOOLERS

Since everyone will be on lockdown for at least 2 weeks due to Coronavirus, I thought it would be fun to share a few of our favorite toys that are keeping Elle entertained. It’s a stressful and crazy time in the world right now, but it’s important for us as parents to keep our kids learning while they aren’t in school.

We are trying to find the new normal and have tried to add a bit of structure to our day. Even though Elle’s school is closed, they are going to be teaching daily lessons online electronically through Zoom which is great. Besides that, I want to make sure she is still learning at home so today I’m sharing a few of her favorite learning toys that have helped her with ABCs, numbers, shapes, colors, spelling, etc.

Let’s break it down…

MY FIRST SMART PAD

We’ve had this toy for awhile and more recently my daughter has really loved reading all the books that come with it. This toy is 2-sided and teaches your kid about the alphabet, shapes, animals, songs, and musical instruments. It also comes with 8 books that are full of even more activities that you can use with the pad. Because of it’s size, we love bringing this in the car when we have to take longer trips. It really keeps our daughter occupied for long chunks of time!

BABY SHARK ALPHABET BUS

I got this for Elle for her birthday because she is obsessed with baby shark. It’s super cute and comes with a matching book. We play with it every night before bed and it has honestly taught her the alphabet (as well as counting, colors, shapes, body parts, vegetables, feelings, telling time, days of the week, and seasons. It’s a total winner and super cute for a toddler.

SESAME STREET LEARNING CASE BUNDLE

These are perfect if you want to reinforce letters and numbers with your kids. We got the alphabet one first and then she insisted on the cookie monster number case too. This bundle of both is the perfect learning addition for lockdown.

COUNTING PIGGY BANK

This cute little pink pig teaches your kid all about counting, colors, animals, and so much more with songs, speech, and tons of activities. It includes 10 colorful coins as well as Smart Stages technology that changes the learning content as your child grows older. There are 40+ sing-along songs and you can press the piggy’s nose for fun sound effects. Lastly, it counts in Spanish too!

ALPHABET SOUND PUZZLE

This alphabet sound puzzle has taught our daughter the alphabet. It’s once again another Melissa & Doug puzzle and the absolute best! It makes a great gift that’s also fun and entertaining. For some reason they are currently only selling the Spanish version online, but I’m sure they have both available in stores.

MINNIE MOUSE MAGNETIC DRESS-UP

My daughter is OBSESSED with this one. I realize it’s not totally under the category of “learning”, but if you talk with your child while playing it, you can go over colors, matching, body parts etc. If you have a toddler obsessed with Minnie Mouse or fashion, they will love this!

CUPCAKE SHAPE SORTER

We love this cupcake toy set. They are small enough to bring in your bag to a restaurant and provide endless hours of fun. You can break them apart to reveal different shapes and they are currently on sale for only $15. Such a cute gift idea too!

WIPE CLEAN EARLY LEARNING WORKBOOK

This wipe clean early learning workbook is perfect for learning at home. It goes over all the major subjects and is perfect for kids ages 3-5. What I love about it is that it comes with a pen that you can wipe clean so you can keep practicing and using the pages over and over again.

ROLL & PLAY GAME

This game is not only fun, but educational too. It works on colors, movement, animals, and more. It has different color cards and you roll the cube to discover endless learning opportunities. It encourages creativity, active play, and gross motor skills.

AQUA MAGIC DOODLE MAT

This is the best doodle mat for non-messy fun! It comes with a bunch of stencils and stamps so you can work on shapes, numbers, letters, and spelling. It also has a drawing booklet with loads of other fun ideas.

COLORFUL BEAR SORTING SET

This is the perfect toy if you want to work on color recognition and sorting. Elle has been playing with these for awhile now and there are so many different activities you can do with them. They should be a must in everyone’s home.
