ELLE'S MERMAID THEMED 3RD BIRTHDAY PARTY

Elle is officially THREE and to celebrate we had the most magical mermaid themed birthday party at NY Kids Club in Lincoln Park. Today I’m breaking down all the details so that you too can host the perfect mermaid themed birthday party for your little ones too.

THE VENUE

This year we chose to have Elle’s birthday party at NY Kids Club which is located in Lincoln Park. The staff was amazing from start to finish and made the entire party run smoothly. Depending on your child’s age, they have 12 different themes to choose from. Their 90-minute birthday celebrations take place in their state-of-the-art gym space with plenty of thematic games and activities. All the activities are age appropriate and the kids had a blast.

We went with the Underwater Ocean Explorers theme and added a little mermaid vibe into the mix. The kids started off by coloring in the birthday banner and singing songs. Then we migrated to the gym where they had free play, a treasure hunt, and disco dance party with bubbles. Then the kids went into the party room for pizza and cake. THE INVITATIONS

When it comes to invites, I always love to use Paperless Post. They’re my absolute favorite! It’s super easy to navigate their website and they have the cutest designs. There were so many birthday invitations to choose from, but the exact style we went with was this under the sea mermaid themed one. They let you customize it all the way down to the font and color choices.

Paperless Post also helps you track the number of guests attending and even assist with reminders. Lastly, I was able to easily create thank you notes electronically, which is a total game changer. They’re honestly the best!

THE DECOR

For decorations, I mostly turned to Target for paper goods including: plates, napkins, birthday sign, and tablecloths. I also was lucky enough to be contacted by Elite Face Painting and Body Art via Instagram. She made the most amazing balloon mermaids and sea creatures. The kids were OBSESSED and they really helped turn the room into an underwater mermaid themed adventure. All the balloons had the most intricate details and she does face painting too! THE FOOD

NY Kids Club helped set up Jets Pizza, which if you live in Chicago is the goto pizza place of choice when it comes to kids birthday parties. We also brought in drinks, a fruit tray, and of course a birthday cake via Mariano’s. They have the BEST birthday cakes. We went with a chocolate cake with buttercream frosting. It was a fan favorite. Mariano’s will create any design you want and are really flexible and easy to work with.

THE PARTY FAVOR

I continued with the underwater mermaid theme and gave each kid a Melissa & Doug Water Wow. I found them on SUPER SALE here. I also bought these gift bags for them, but found out last minute that they were way too small 🙁 .
