This spring I plan to amp up my fitness routine and am holding myself accountable by sharing a few goals with all of you. When it comes to working out, I try to do so as much as possible, but it can be challenging due so many other life factors. I’m tired of making excusing and here’s a list of a few tweaks I’m going to be making this spring season:
1. WORK OUT FOUR TIMES A WEEK
My goal this spring is to work out AT LEAST 4 times a week. I have a workout room in my building and plan to wake up early in order to meet my goal. There are also a few classes I’ve been meaning to either try or get back into.
First of all, I’ve always been a huge fan of SoulCycle and would love to get back into it. It’s usually a fun workout and I always love the music and vibe. I’ve also heard great things about Orangetheory and can’t wait for rooftop yoga at Lakeshore Fitness with my friend Mikhaila.
2. INVEST IN SOME NEW WORKOUT GEAR
New workout clothes can always be motivating. Am I right?! When you look good then you feel good and are ready to hit the gym in style. There are currently so many cute brands out there and a new favorite of mine these days is Athleta. They have so many cute new styles for spring and I’m currently loving this hoodie and these white leggings {that also come in a bunch of other colors}.
Athleta has so many cute new styles and if you live in Chicago and mention my blog “Gold Coast Girl” at the register when you shop at their Oak Street store between 4/15-4/21, you will get 20% OFF one item of choice.
Besides cute clothes, Athleta always has a bunch of fun events. On 4/16 there will be a Wellness Experience that will include readings from Revealing Soul and a meditation and breathwork class. You can RSVP HERE. Also, on 4/18 there will be a yoga class. You can get all the details and RSVP HERE.
Besides Athleta, some other workout brands I love include Old Navy Active {so affordable!}, as well as Spanx {also sold here} for funky leggings. I currently have these camo leggings from Spanx, as well as these moto ones and these faux leather ones which are more for going out and less for working out, but still super fun!
When it comes to sneakers, my go-to is usually Nike. They’re beyond comfortable and I always feel like I’m walking on pillows. You can find this exact pair here, and a few similar styles here + here. FYI I always find Nike sneakers to run small and for this pair I went up an entire size {I’m usually a size 6.5 and went with a 7.5}.
3. DRINK MORE WATER
Drinking more water and staying hydrated is super important. It can help with your skin, circulation, and even weight loss by making you feel full. I’ve been seeing this 1 gallon water jug circulating around Instagram Stories and finally bought it. It comes in a bunch of different colors and will help me keep track of my daily water intake.
4. MEAL PLAN
Lately I’ve been getting more and more into meal planning and even recently wrote a blog post about it here. Exercise and eating right usually go hand-in-hand. I already love to cook, so I think it will be fun to set aside time each Sunday to meal plan for the week.
Healthy recipes are easy to come by these days and I always love finding them on Pinterest {I’ve got a whole board dedicated to recipes} as well as some of my favorite food bloggers: Skinny Taste, Pinch of Yum, and Valleybrink Road.
I’ve also done a few round-ups of recipes throughout the years. Some of my favorites include: 10 Sheet Pan Recipes You Should Make for Dinner, 20 Recipes You Can Make In Your Instant Pot {which I need to use more of!}, Healthy Salad Ideas, and 10 Healthy Grain Bowl Recipes.
5. GO TO BED EARLIER
Lately I’ve been going to bed WAY too late. I’m going to try to give myself a 10:30PM curfew during the week and force myself to get to bed. I always find myself staying up later than I intend to due to last minute deadlines, Bravo TV {just being honest here ? }, and Instagram. I really need to shut everything down and get to bed!
6. WALK MORE
Now that the weather is finally warming up, I’ll be able to walk more. I love taking Elle to the Lincoln Park Zoo or Children’s Museum and both are walkable. Walking is really a great form of exercise and an easy way to get in those extra steps.
Lastly, isn’t this pink bag super cute?! It’s Marc Jacobs and comes in a bunch of different colors. It’s perfect for long walks and I love a little pop of pink for spring!
So there you have it. 6 fitness goals for spring. Hopefully these will inspire you too to set some goals for the new season.
