A few weeks ago I tried cryotherapy for the first time with CryoLuxe and wanted to share my experience with you today. I took a poll on Instagram Stories asking if you guys have heard of cryotherapy and a large percentage said that they have not.

I thought it would be fun to share what cryotherapy is and all the benefits you can get from it. I’m going to break it down into sections and explain everything you need to know in full detail. So let’s get started, shall we?!

The history by Cryotherapy is actually pretty cool. It dates back as early as 2500 BC when the Egyptians used it to treat injuries and inflammation. These days it’s extremely popular among athletes as well as a lot of celebrities.

The whole process and science behind it is amazing. Your body’s temperature gets as low as 200 degrees below zero for up to 3 minutes to stimulate your body’s natural healing mechanisms by activating a fight or flight response. The body supercharges the blood with anti-inflammatory proteins, endorphins, and oxygen that provides a euphoric feeling and a multitude of benefits that I’ll list for you below.

After you change, you step into a cryotherapy chamber that begins to fill with nitrogen vapor. The treatment usually lasts a average of three minutes and your head always remains outside the chamber. There is also always a CryoLuxe associate working the machine, and they are able to stop it at any time.

The temporary cold dry air penetrates the outer layer of your skin and once you are out of the chamber, the body immediately reheats.

Some things to expect while in the chamber include even cooling over the entire body. As I said above, the treatment usually lasts 3 minutes and I would say that the last 30 seconds feel the coldest. There is also always constant monitoring by the operator and they are able to increase or decrease the temperature while you are in there, so if you feel like you are too cold, then they can always lower it.

I personally LOVED my experience with cryotherapy. I didn’t think it was too cold at all and stayed in the chamber for the suggested three minutes. It’s also not claustrophobic at all because your head is sticking out the whole time and you’re free to exit at any time.

You do have to take the majority of your clothes off, but it is recommended that you keep your bra and underwear on. They provide you with socks to wear as well as boots and a robe. They also have gloves because your extremities are the most sensitive.

There are so many amazing benefits to cryotherapy and that’s why it’s becoming more and more popular. As I said above, it’s really great for athletes as well as people who like to work out. Some of the benefits include accelerated tissue repair and reduced inflammation, pain, and spasms. It also boosts your metabolism {which I personally love!} and gives an accelerated production of collagen. It improves skin elasticity and texture, reduces the appearance of cellulite, and is a great treatment for inflammatory disorders like rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and multiple sclerosis..

I honestly didn’t know what to expect when going into it and was actually a bit intimidated at first, but people usually tend to feel that way when entering the unknown. The CryoLuxe operator was extremely helpful and reassuring. She explained the entire process to me as well as what to expect.

The cooler temperature made me feel refreshed and invigorated. I felt both physical and mental benefits from the experience and would love to do it on a regular basis. It’s actually highly recommended that you do it 1-2 times per week and  CryoLuxe offers amazing monthly package. The more you do it, the more you will feel all of it’s amazing benefits.

To get a better sense of exactly what it is, I’m sharing a few photos from my experience below:
