5 TIPS FOR HAVING A SAFE SUMMER AT THE POOL

One thing that I discovered while on our trip to Arizona a few months ago is that Elle loves the water. She always has such a fun time splashing in the pool, so obviously I wanted to make sure she had the safest gear. Both last summer {remember this post and how little Elle was?!} as well as this summer we have relied on SwimWays to help keep Elle safe in the water.

SwimWays is an industry leader in helping children learn to swim and promoting water safety. The Baby Spring Float Canopy for babies 9-24 months is the #1 selling baby float in the U.S. and it consistently receives 4 and 5 star ratings by consumers for years. Last summer when I was searching for a reliable product, Swimways was the first one that came it. They also have so many adorable patterns and designs to choose from, making it the easiest choice.

Some of my favorite features of the product include a large circumference and patented inner spring around the outside edge for added stability. We also love the fabric-covered inflation and soft mesh seat for durability and comfort. We are obsessed with the adjustable and removable canopy with 50+ SPF sun protection as well as the cute mesh play space for toys and splashing. Lastly, it folds flat into three compact circles for portability and storage, and it even includes its very own carry bag.

Elle loves the water and with the help of our SwimWays Baby Spring Float Canopy, I know that she’s not only safe in the pool, but also protected from the sun. Right now we are still waiting for our own building’s pool to open, but in the meantime we have been using Elle’s grandparent’s place. It has been a breeze folding up and bringing over our SwimWays Baby Spring Float Canopy and because the pool is inside, we can easily remove the canopy.

Now onto a few tips for a safe summer in the pool…

MAKE SURE TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SWIM FLOAT

This is obviously a no-brainer. If you have a baby under 24 months then get yourself a SwimWays Baby Spring Float Canopy. If your child is older than look into getting them the appropriate gear.

WEAR LOTS OF SUNSCREEN

If you are going to be outside then you need to have sunscreen on. Later this month I plan on sharing more about which ones we like best {currently testing a few}, but in the meantime find one you like and make sure to reapply if you are outside for long periods of time.

GET IN THE WATER WITH YOUR KIDS

I don’t love putting on a bathing suit, but because of Elle’s age, I need to be in the water with her at all times. Later this month I’ll share some cute one piece favorites for summer that will help motivate you to get in the water with your kids!

NO RUNNING

Elle recently learned to walk and I’m obviously scared of her walking and running by the pool. It is easy to slip and hurt yourself. This is a common pool rule that should always be enforced.

LEARN CPR

Not all pools have a lifeguard on duty. When I was pregnant with Elle, my husband and I took a CPR class at the hospital. I think it’s such a valuable class that everyone should take if they have the time. Drowning is a serious issue so the more you know, the better you can be in an emergency.

Hopefully these tips were helpful and you can see some photos from this past weekend’s swimming session below…
