Now that I’m a mom myself, I have a bit of an idea of what were the best and most useful gifts I received in the beginning when Elle was born. I can’t believe that my own baby shower was almost a year ago! Time has really been flying. When it comes to baby showers, it’s okay to go off the list and bring a present that is not only practical, but also thoughtful.

Today I’m teaming up with Johnson & Johnson to share what I believe are the top 10 best baby shower presents. Every new mom wants to feel ready when their baby comes so it’s important to stock up on the necessities, but also some fun extras too.

BABY CLOTHES

This is a no brainer and usually the most common. I got a lot of clothes as gifts and felt like I really didn’t need to buy any in the beginning {which was great!}. New moms need lots of onesies. I found that the zip up onesies were the easiest because there will be lots of diaper changes and spit up happening those first few months. I also loved anything with hand covers to protect the baby from scratching themselves. Lastly, anything monogramed or with the kid’s name on it {if you know it in advance} is always super cute too.

BATH PRODUCTS

From the start we have been such fans of Johnson & Johnson bath products. What I love most about the brand is that safety is their #1 priority. SWADDLES

In the beginning babies are really into being swaddled. I found that the velcro swaddles were the most useful and they usually come in 3 packs with fun designs. This is a gift that new moms will get a lot of use out of in those first few months.

BOOKS

At my own baby shower each guest brought a baby book instead of a card and wrote cute little notes inside. I thought this was such a fun idea and we now have tons of books to read to Elle each night. Board books are especially great because they are sturdier for when your baby tries to rip out the pages and spits up on them.

DIAPER BAG

Every parent needs one of these and it’s great to have on hand from the beginning. Personally, I wanted one that was lightweight because I knew I would be putting a lot of stuff in it. I also wanted one that was easy to wash and with lots of pockets and zippers so that everything would have it’s own place.

MEMORY BABY BOOK

This was another great gift we got that I didn’t even think to register for. You want a special place to put all of your baby’s firsts, photos, and memories. I even still have my very own baby book from when I was little. There are so many options out there with lots of cute patterns and designs.

SOUND MACHINE

If you read my post on sleep training then you should know that we are HUGE fans of sound machines. This is such a useful present and one that will be used daily. Some new moms might not know that they need one of these, but will be so thankful for the useful present.

SPA CERTIFICATE

I know these gifts are supposed to be for the baby, but this one is great for the mom-to-be. This is honestly a no-brainer. Towards the end of your pregnancy everything hurts so a day of pampering is just what you need. No pregnant woman will disagree with me on this one.

NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION

A gift card to a photography sessions for your newborn is such a thoughtful and special present. It might not be something that a new parent totally needs, but they will be so happy and grateful. Babies grow up so fast and getting photos of when they are just born is truly priceless.

MEAL DELIVERY SERVICE

My husband’s sister got us this and it was honestly such an amazing gift. The very last thing new parents want to do is think about cooking dinner {or breakfast or lunch}, so a gift certificate to one of these is golden. Most have easy online ordering where you can pick and choose exactly what you like and then choose the delivery time.
