I never share too much about my husband because unlike me, he is a very private person. He doesn’t like having his picture taken too often and also is so not a fan of social media. With that said, we are celebrating our 4 year wedding anniversary next week and I wanted to share a bit about how we met and how he proposed.

We actually went to rival high schools growing up, but didn’t know each other because he was a few years older. It’s funny to look back and think that we might have crossed paths at a party, sporting event or some other social function.

After college, I moved back to Chicago and we had a lot of mutual friends in common so we would sometimes see each other out. Our first meeting was at a Super Bowl party when I was 24 years old. We didn’t really get a chance to talk to each other until a few months later at a bar. Then some time went by and we finally reconnected at a Halloween party. We hung out the whole night and have been together ever since.

We dated for about 6 years and then took a trip to Puerto Rico where my husband proposed. He did it on top of this beautiful hill at El Morro where people go to fly kites. On the cab ride over there he was acting strange and sweating a lot, but I didn’t think too much of it.

We were flying a kite, watching the sunset and all of a sudden his voice started shaking as he was saying all these sweet things about me. Before he had a chance to get down on one knee and finish, I said yes and was super surprised and excited. We got to spend the rest of the vacation celebrating and then got married a few months later.
