5 TIPS FOR HEALTHIER HAIR

Thank you Dove for sponsoring this post. Dove Intensive Repair Shampoo and Conditioner works to repair hair and stop 90% of damage before it happens!

Your hair can get damaged, especially during the summer months when there is lots of hanging out at the pool {oy chlorine!} or beach. There are certain tips and tricks you can follow to beat the heat and keep your hair heathy this summer season.

One important measure you can take is choosing the right shampoo and conditioner. My go-to brand of choice these days is Dove Intensive Repair Shampoo and Conditioner. They both work to repair your hair and stop 90% of hair damage before it happens.

I’ve tried a lot of different shampoos and conditioners in my day. What I especially love about this specific one is the fact that every time you use it, your hair is reconstructed, strong, and beautiful. It works immediately to repair the hair surface, while deeply nourishing the core of your hair to reconstruct it from within and make it healthier in the long run.

Besides choosing a great shampoo and conditioner, there are other steps you can take to getting healthier hair. Today I’m going to share 5 tips you can apply to your daily routine this summer season to help your hair stay shiny and strong. So here we go…

1. DON’T OVER HEAT YOUR HAIR

Try to avoid using as much heat to your hair as possible. Heat can further strip the moisture content from your hair, making it dry and frizzy. Try to use flat irons, curling irons, and hair straighteners only if necessary. I wash my hair every 203 days and like to let my hair air dry at least once a week {when I know I don’t have any fun plans that night} to give it a break from all the heat.

2. SHAMPOO YOUR SCALP ONLY & USE A CONDITIONER

When wasting your hair, make sure to concentrate on cleaning primarily the scalp, rather than washing the entire length of the hair. Washing only your hair can create fly away hair that is dull and coarse. Also using a conditioner can significantly improve the look of damaged or weathered hair by increasing its shine, decreasing static, improving strength, and offering some protection from harmful UV rays.

3. PROTECT YOUR HAIR

Always protect your hair from sun, wind, and rain. Exposure to excessive sun, heat, dirt, pollution etc. can be very damaging to your hair. These can lead to dirt build up and drying out. Cover your hair with an umbrella and/or hat to protect it. Also make sure to protect your hair when swimming. Chlorine causes your hair to lose a lot of moisture and dries it out.. By wetting your hair before swimming, wearing a tight-fitted swim cap, or just wrapping your hair up in a tight bun and not letting it get wet.

4. AVOID TIGHT HAIR TIES

Tight hair ties tend to pull on your hair, causing friction and breakage. Try using a scrunch or cloth tie, or even a cotton headband to push your hair back. These are all more gentle on your hair and will cause less breakage.

5. USE COLD WATER

Cold water is great for your hair. Try using cold water towards the end of your shower when you are conditioning. It will help keep your hair healthy and add a great shine.
