MY NEW MORNING ROUTINE

Being a new mom is probably the most life changing experience I have ever encountered. Now that Elle is 5 months old, we have slowly gotten into a daily routine and I am finally getting the hang of this mom stuff. One thing for sure is that my mornings as well as all aspects of my life look a bit different than before.

Before Elle was born, my morning routine went like this:

During the week I would get up, wash my face and moisturize {which is always a must}. My favorite product to use is Cetaphil® Moisturizing Cream because of its sensitive formula and long lasting hydration. Then I would get dressed, chug down some coffee, and run out the door for work.

On non-work days, I would sleep in {because sleep is one of my favorite things to do!} and casually crawl out of bed whenever I wanted. Maybe I would workout or cook breakfast or go out to brunch…who knows…but my life was basically centered around ME and my needs {and maybe some of my husband’s too}.

Well, times have changed {for the better of course} and this is what my morning looks like these days…

STEP 1 // WAKE UP & FEED BABY
Elle is finally sleeping through the night {well…most nights…} and tends to wake up around 7am-ish. The first thing I do is get up to feed her. She doesn’t cry too often, but when she is hungry she is HANGRY and needs to eat. Once she is fed {which takes about 30 minutes or so} and burped {this is a very important step!}, I change her and get her ready for the day. I then bring her into our living room area and either place her in her bouncer, jumper {her new favorite!}, her swing, or on her activity mat to play.

STEP 2 // MAKE COFFEE
I feel like I absolutely could not function if it weren’t for the invention of coffee. I love it and need to have at least 2 cups every single morning. If you’re asking, I like mine with a few drops of organic half & half, and prefer a dark or french roast.

STEP 3 // WASH MY FACE
I like to wash my face 3 times a day: every morning, in the shower, and also before I go to bed. In the mornings, I usually just splash cold water on my face to wake myself up and brighten up my skin. While taking a shower {which I usually do in the afternoon or at night} and before I go to bed, I like to use a mild soap for sensitive skin.

STEP 4 // MOISTURIZE
For me, moisturizing is a must! I find it’s important to stay hydrated so I moisturize not only in the morning, but also after I shower and before I go to bed at night. As I said above, my favorite brand to use is Cetaphil®. Growing up I was always a huge fan of their face wash {Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleanser}, so I was super excited to see they had a moisturizing cream as well. They make it for sensitive skin {which is me!} and it is clinically proven to provide immediate, long-lasting hydration that soothes dry, itchy skin.

Cetaphil® Moisturizing Cream uses a unique formula that attracts water to the skin and helps prevent moisture loss. I also love that it is quick-absorbing, non-greasy, as well as fragrance free, and non-irritating for sensitive skin.

STEP 5 // CHECK ON BABY
I run to go check on Elle. Even though she can easily entertain herself for hours, I make sure she is happy and did not spit-up.

STEP 6 // GET DRESSED
I quickly make the bed and get dressed for the day. If I know it is going to be just Elle & I all day long, I usually tend to wear something comfortable like leggings, sweaters, sweatshirts, and work-out attire.

If I know I am meeting up with friends or being seen by the public, I make more of an effort and even throw on a pair of jeans and a cute {but still comfortable} top. I might even put on some makeup too!

These days I like to wear clothes that are machine washable because they have about a 75% chance of getting spit up on them ;-).

STEP 7 // CHECK ON BABY AGAIN
Once again I check on Elle to see that she is still content and spit-up free.

STEP 8 // DRINK COFFEE & CHECK EMAILS
I either sit down at my dining room table or on the couch with my coffee and open up my laptop for a bit. I always start by looking at my calendar to see what I have going on for the rest of the week and what to-dos I need to check off my list. Then I try to read all my emails and drink my coffee.

STEP 9 // START MY DAY
Now that all the essentials are all taken care of, it is time to start my day. Week days for me consist of taking Elle on long walks {if the weather is cooperating}, running errands, blogging, and meeting up with other mom friends or my sister. I love my new lifestyle and couldn’t be happier with my new morning routine and sweet baby girl!

So as you can see, my morning routine is a bit different these days, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Even though I’m a new mom, I’m still able to find time for myself and am happy I’ve been able to find products that I love and that work with my sensitive skin.

Cetaphil® Moisturizing Cream helps me maintain hydrated skin and keeps up with my busy lifestyle. It is conveniently sold at Target and is clinically proven to provide immediate, long-lasting hydration that soothes dry, itchy skin with a unique fragrance free formula that is mild and non-irritating.

I’m definitely going to check out that moisturizer because my skin has been SO dry lately! Sounds like a great routine and Elle always looks so happy. And seriously she gets cuter by the minute!! Her little outfits are the best. 🙂
