Lately I’ve been on a workout kick and trying to lose the last of my baby weight. I love taking Elle for long walks, but when I really need to get my butt into gear, I head to the gym.

I like to start with a combination of cardio where I do 20 minutes on the treadmill with a slight include and 20 minutes on the elliptical. Then I usually end with stretches, crunches, and arm weights. I also from time to time like to try out group classes. Cardio kickboxing is always a favorite of mine and more recently I have gotten into yoga.

Working out is only half the battle. Eating healthy is also important when trying to stay fit. I try to incorporate healthy proteins as much as possible, as well as lots of fruits and vegetables. My goal is always to eat healthy during the week and then allow for some cheating on weekends. I also love chewing Orbit Gum. Chewing Orbit Gum helps keep my wellness goals on track by minimizing mindless snacking throughout the day.

When heading to the gym, I like to make sure I have the following essentials with me:

So let’s start with the gym bag itself. I always try to choose one that is light weight, sporty, and stylish. I like having shoulder straps and lots of pockets for easy access. The bag I am currently using for the gym is this quilted black one that also comes in a smaller version here. I love the fact that It is lightweight and can hold a lot.

Listening to music helps get me motivated. I even have a workout playlist that I created on my iTunes filled with high energy songs. I love carrying around these Bose SoundSport Headphones because they are lightweight, durable, and have a comfortable fit.

I always like my sports bra to be extremely comfortable and breathable because when I’m working hard, I sweat a lot. I love the fit of this pink one and the fact that is it stylish too doesn’t hurt.

Staying hydrated is super important and even when I’m not at the gym, I usually have some sort of water bottle on me. I like to use these glass ones from LifeFactory because they are durable and come in a variety of fun colors.

In case I get hungry or HANGRY, I like to always have a healthy option available on me so I don’t ruin what I just worked off. I find that fruit is an easy choice to throw in my bag {like a banana or apple} or some sort of low calorie energy bar.

6. GUM
I’m addicted to gum and my favorite brand currently is Orbit Gum. I love their peppermint, sweet mint, and spearmint flavors especially. A key part of health and wellness is all about seeking balance through mindful consumption. With only 5-10 calories per serving, gum is always a good choice as people pursue a balanced lifestyle. That’s why I like to to always have a pack in my handbag whenever I am on the go.

When working out, you obviously need a supportive and stylish pair of sneakers. My favorite brand is Nike. I find that they are super comfortable {like walking on pillows!} and I’ve been wearing these burgundy ones a lot this past winter. More recently I bought these black ones for the springtime. I like to invest in a new pair each season and in my mind you can never have too many pairs of sneakers 😉 .

I mean this is a no brainer…Whenever I go, my cell phone goes with me. I use it to listen to music and check emails while I’m working out.

Yes to spandex! I honestly would wear high waisted leggings all the time if I could. I just bought these black ones and love to wear them even when I’m not working out. The mesh cutout pattern feels fresh, edgy, and fun.

So as you can see, these are my essentials that I carry with me when heading to the gym. I try to make it there around 4 times a week, but sometimes being a mom gets in the way of that. When that is the case, I still try to find creative ways of being healthy and staying fit.

What do you all carry in your gym bag? I wold love to hear!

Several years ago I picked up the habit of chewing gum after lunch at work. It helped me feel like I had that “just brushed, clean feeling” 😉 so I was less likely to snack afterwards. Smart to keep it in your gym bag!

Oh I like that water bottle! 🙂 I don’t go to a gym, walking the dog and running around after the boys is exercise enough, haha! We do have stairs at home so the amount of times I’m up and down them each day, often with a baby and/or toddler on my hip is probably a better workout than the treadmill at the gym haha!

Hope you are having a great start to the week!
