5 FITNESS GOALS FOR 2016

I know we are a few weeks into January, but when it comes to New Years resolutions better late than never right!? I’ve decided that in 2016 I want to amp up my fitness routine and live a healthier lifestyle.

I know, I know. This is what EVERYONE ALWAYS SAYS, but this year I mean it 😉 . I’ve never been too big of a fan when it comes to working out, but this year I’m going to push myself outside of my own comfort zone and take the plunge. I’ve already taken small strides. Last weekend I tried a Pure Barre class in River North with some gal pals and I’ve also been inspired to take up yoga {Namaste}.

I’ve created a list of goals + ideas on how both YOU and I can better ourselves in the New Year and live a healthier lifestyle:

1. WORK OUT MORE //
I know we always say this to ourselves at the new year, but this time I mean it. I’m thinking of starting off small for this one and trying 30 minutes of cardio daily on either the elliptical or treadmill in my building gym. Why not grab a friend and motivate each other. It will be more enjoyable AND make the time pass faster.

2. COOK HEALTHY NEW RECIPES //
I love to cook and with the internet comes a wealth of knowledge. There are SO MANY amazing resources out there that you can use to browse new {healthy} recipes. Some of my favorites include: Pinch of Yum, Cooking Light, Skinny Taste, and The Food Babe.

3. DRINK MORE WATER //
This year I vow to cut out all the sugary sodas + juices and just stick to water. It’s important to stay hydrated and it’s great for your skin too. I’ve been playing around with the idea of installing a Da2900020b filter on my refrigerator. At least then I could stop buying so many plastic water bottles. Also, why not spice things up by adding fresh fruit like sliced lemons, berries, or even cucumbers to amplify some flavor into the mix. I’m also a huge fan of sparkling water.  Have you guys ever heard of the Soda Stream? It is super easy to use and comes in lots of fun colors to match any kitchen.

4. INVEST IN SOME CUTE WORKOUT CLOTHES //
When you look better, you feel better- right?! There are lots of affordable brands out there that have really amped up their workout clothing game this season. Currently I’m loving styles from Old Navy Active, Gap Fit, Forever21, and even Athletica. I mean, how cute are these bright patterned leggings? Also Kate Spade just came out with an activewear line. Isn’t this jacket just the cutest!?

5. GET MORE SLEEP //
I’ve always been a huge fan of sleep and honestly can never have enough 😉 . This year I plan to be more strict about getting to bed earlier so that I can make sure I’m getting at least 8 hours a night.

Feel free to tell me what YOU plan to do in 2016 to live a healthier lifestyle. I would love to hear!

These are all great goals!! You are so lucky that you have a gym in your building. That is definitely a huge plus especially during the winter. I love that water bottle and definitely checking out that blog for recipes too. 🙂

I’m all about drinking more water, and really need to hop on the infused water train. All that fruit looks so yummy! I also enjoy yoga and barre classes, although the price of those classes keeps me from going as much as I’d like. 2016 is your year, get it gurlie!

I agree but it’s very hard for me to do regular workout especially on week days. So I mostly try diet control for night meal. Fitness has been my long term goal!
